Platte Canyon School District #1 today announced its policy for determining eligibility of children who may receive free and reduced price meals served under the National School Lunch and School Breakfast Programs.

In compliance with Titles VI & VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972; Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, the Age Discrimination in Employment Act of 1967, the Americans with Disabilities Act and Colorado law, the Platte Canyon School District does not unlawfully discriminate on the basis of race, color, sex (which includes marital status), sexual orientation, religion, national origin, ancestry, creed, age, disability or need for special education services in admissions, access to, programs and services, or employment in educational programs or activities which it operates.

Each Colorado school district is required by Senate Bill 08-181 to establish a timeline for becoming complaint with the National Incident Management System for responding to emergencies.   Platte Canyon has revised its Emergency Response and Crisis Management plan and completed a memorandum of understanding with the Park County Emergency Manager, the Park County Sheriff, and the Platte Canyon Fire Department and is now compliant with the requirement.
