The sixth grade team teaches a core curriculum that includes: language arts, physical science, U. S. history, Latin American studies, geography, and math.

Joan Dabbert Science

Mrs. Dabbert was born in Illinois, moved to Colorado in 1970, and graduated from Palmer High School in Colorado Springs. She received her Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Tulsa in Oklahoma.
Mrs. Dabbert has taught science at the high school level and the elementary school level, but her favorite is teaching middle school science.
She enjoys encouraging students of this age to use their creativity to improve their problem-solving skills and advance their abstract thinking skills.
Mrs. Dabbert and her husband have lived in Bailey for many years where they have raised two sons that attended Platte Canyon School District from kindergarten to high school graduation.

Kristin Snowden Language Arts

Mrs. Snowden was born in Colorado and she is proud to be a native! She received her BA from Colorado State University and her teaching license from Metropolitan State College of Denver.
She loves to recreate in the beautiful mountains around Bailey. Some of her interests include running, mountain biking and hanging out with her husband Marc, and their dogs. Mrs. Snowden considers her dogs her "furry kids".
She believes in encouraging students to be hard workers with a passion for learning, and she feels fortunate to spend each day with her students.

Ms. Coler is a Colorado native who is thrilled to be living and teaching in her beloved mountains with her 2 teenage daughters.
She earned her BS from Colorado State University in Fort Collins.
She feels blessed to be in a career that she enjoys - teaching middle schoolers math.
Ms. Coler believes that all students have talents and she wants her students to learn the math they need to keep as many doors open for their future as possible.
In her spare time, she enjoys walking while enjoying the beautiful scenery of her home, reading historical fiction and scrapbooking.

Kyle Walpole Social Studies

Mr. Walpole grew up in Evergreen. He received his BA from Adams State College and his Master's in History from the University of Wyoming. An avid outdoorsman, he spends many weekends hiking in the mountains with his hearing dog Max. Mr. Walpole has received national recognition for his photography and, for his academic achievements, had the Adams State College McDaniel - Walpole Scholarship named in his honor. Mr. Walpole enjoys showing his students the connections between historical and current events and has also dedicated considerable time with an overseas paramilitary NGO, assisting children who have fallen victim to child slavery.
