ASSISTANT PRINCIPAL
QUALIFICATIONS
- Colorado Principal’s License.
- A minimum of two year’s experience as a licensed teacher.
- First Aid Certification obtained within 90 days following the first date on the job.
- Demonstrated effective leadership skills.
REPORTS TO Principal
PRIMARY FUNCTION Fulfill school administrative duties and responsibilities as specifically assigned by the Principal. Such duties and responsibilities shall be listed in writing at the beginning of the job assignment and updated as necessary. It shall show which of the Principal’s duties have been delegated to the Assistant Principal.
JOB-DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES
- Serve as the Acting Principal in the absence of the Principal.
- Maintain an ongoing effort to promote positive relationships with staff, students, parents and the community.

- Prepare reports as requested by the Principal.
- Be familiar with and abide by Federal and Colorado laws, Board of Education policies, District Regulations, and school procedures that relate to employment with the District.

EVALUATION
Assistant Principals are evaluated annually by Principals. Evaluation is to be based upon performance expectations based upon assigned duties and from the applicable standards established for the evaluation of Principals:
- Administrative Judgment
- Planning and Organization
- Instructional Leadership
- Human Resource Management
- Fiscal Management
- Facility Management
- Public Relations
- Professional Growth/Development
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT
Assistant Principals are contracted for one year – 210 work days.
Work Year: August through July.
All employees are directly or indirectly supervised by the Superintendent (Policy 103).

TOBACCO-FREE, DRUG-FREE, AND ALCOHOL- FREE SCHOOLS
Smoking, chewing, or any other use of any tobacco products by staff, students and members of the public is banned on school property, including: playgrounds, athletic fields, recreation areas, parking areas, and buildings, and in school vehicles or at bus stops. Use is also banned at any school or School District sponsored activity or event. Tobacco includes; cigarettes, cigars, pipe tobacco, snuff, chewing tobacco, cloves and all other kinds and forms of tobacco prepared in such manner as to be suitable for chewing, smoking or both. Use means lighting, chewing, inhaling or smoking any tobacco product.
A staff member in violation of this policy shall be subject to disciplinary action and/or possible termination of employment. District Policies are displayed on this web site.
