Curriculum Standards
Standard #1 Reading
Each student will have demonstrated reading proficiency and will have read, understood and evaluated a wide range of information sources and literature.
Standard #2 Writing
Each student will have demonstrated writing proficiency necessary for effective communication.
Standard #3 Oral Communication
Each student will have demonstrated proficiency in listening and oral expression skills necessary for effective communication.
Standard #4 Mathematics
Each student will have demonstrated proficiency in mathematics by solving problems requiring number sense, accurate computation, accurate measurement, collection of data and statistics, algebraic methods and geometry.
Standard # 5 Science
Each student will have acquired essential science skills and knowledge including use of the scientific investigation process; understandings of concepts of life, earth, and physical sciences; understandings of the interrelationships among the sciences and the applications of science as technology; and knowledge of the impact of science in our world.
Standard # 6 History
Each student will have used processes and resources of historical inquiry and will have acquired knowledge and basic understandings of Colorado, United States, and world
history.
Standard # 7 Geography
Each student will have used geographic tools to locate and derive information about people and their cultures, places and environments, and will have acquired knowledge and basic understandings of geography.
Standard # 8 Economics
Each student will have acquired knowledge and basic understandings of the principles of economics and economic systems.
Standard # 9 Civics
Each student will have acquired knowledge and basic understandings of civics including government systems, American government (local, state, and national levels), the Constitution, and one's citizenship responsibilities.
Standard #10 Art
Each student will have acquired basic Art understandings and proficiencies.
Standard #11 Music
Each student will have acquired basic Music understandings and proficiencies.
Standard #12 Physical Education/Health
Each student will have demonstrated competent skills in a variety of physical activities and sports; physical fitness; knowledge of factors important to participation in physical activity; and concepts related to health.
Standard #13 Foreign Languages
Each student participating in a foreign language program will have demonstrated basic proficiency by effectively communicating in the language.
Standard #14 Technology
Each student will have demonstrated an understanding of basic operations and concepts of technology systems; social, ethical, and human issues as related to technology; and the use of technology tools to increase productivity, communication, research and problem solving.
