LETTER TO THOSE INTERESTED IN SUBSTITUTE TEACHING

Dear Applicant,

Thank you for your interest in being approved as a substitute teacher in the Platte Canyon School District. You may obtain an application packet for substitute teaching by calling the Human Resources Offices at 303-838-7666 Ext. 1011 or email Cheryl Montgomery, Human Resources at cmontgomery@plattecanyonsd1.org

At this time the District is requiring that all substitutes hold at least a Bachelor's Degree and carry at least a 3-year substitute license through the Colorado Department of Education. (A provisional or professional license is also acceptable) You will note that our pay scale for substitutes is based upon your level of education and license held. You can download a license application and licensing fee information at the CDE website which is www.cde.state.co.us

All applicants are required to set up an interview with the principal of each school where they desire to substitute. Following are the names of our current principals and vice-principals and their secretaries. If available, a vice-principal or secretary may be able to conduct the interview in a principal's absence. Please contact the secretary at each location to set up the interview.

Once all of your paperwork is complete and you have had an interview with one of our principals, then Human Resources will be able to present your application to the Board of Education for approval. You do not need to be present at the Board meeting, however you are welcome to attend any regular Board meeting as they are open to the public. A schedule of the Board of Education meeting dates is posted on this website. Please note that approval may be delayed if the District does not receive a "clear" background check from the Colorado Department of Education.
