Grade 6 Technology Program
Description
The curriculum has been aligned to provide the content necessary for students to achieve the grade level expectations and, upon completion of their program of studies, the District’s content standard. Students may choose to take technology more than the one quarter required.
Time Allocation
Forty-five to fifty minutes daily per quarter

Grade 6 Expectations
Information Literacy
- Became an independent user of the library automation system and understood the different search options available
- Visited the library independently to find a variety of resources

Technology Literacy
- Logged on to a network, managed all files without assistance, and began exhibiting basic hardware and software troubleshooting skills
- Typed at 20-25 wpm with 80% accuracy with correct reaches and fingerings
- Created a finished one and one-half page document composed at the keyboard
- Proofread a one-page, double-spaced word-processed document with setting margins and indents
- Learned functions such as cut, copy, and paste
- Used spell check and thesaurus
- Produced a document with text and graphics
- Saved work to the file server
- Created a 5-screen presentation PowerPoint which includes appropriate choice of multiple elements such as original art, clip art, text fields, transitions and sound
